Margaret Ohiowele is a Partner and heads the subdivision in Benin city. She is a graduate of Law from the University of Benin, Edo State. She attended the Nigerian Law School when it had only one campus (Lagos) Nigeria . She was called to the Nigerian Bar on the 16th of December, 1993. She worked as a State Counsel in the Ministry of Justice Edo State and rose to the rank of Assistant Director before she retired in 2013.
While in the Ministry of Justice, she prosecuted Criminal matters in Regular Courts, covered Assizes and also prosecuted in Armed Robbery Tribunal during the Military Era.
She also handled many Civil matters on behalf of the Government.
Apart from prosecution and litigation matters, she drafted and Executed very many agreements on behalf of the Government.
For thirteen and a half years she was the Secretary of the Advisory council on the Prerogative of Mercy in Edo State.
She was also a member of the Law Review Commission in Edo State for two years during which period she attended a certificate Course in Law Review in South Africa. She participated in reviewing the Edo State Laws in 2008.
In 2009 she was appointed by the Governor as a Secretary of A Commission Of Inquiry to look into the tenure of Oredo Local Government Council Chairman. (Oredo is one of the Local Government Councils in Edo State)
Margaret is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Benin Branch, Edo State.
Apart from her professional Association, she is also a Roman Catholic by faith and a member and past President of the Catholic Women Organisation, St Patrick’s Catholic church, Benin City. She is also a Lady Knight of Knight of St. John International and a Board member of Faith House Christian Community ( A home set up for the care and rehabilitation of mentally retarded and physically challenged persons) in Benin City.
She is a proud mother and grandmother of many children.
